Spring/Summer 2020 – What makes you happy and be inspired…

Blog

17 Feb

Hello,

Instead of talking about different trends at this time of the year, I want to talk about what makes you happy and how these things can help you make your house a home…

While the trends inspire us we still have to stay true to our personalities as this will shine through in our homes.

Working with different clients, I see so many different things people like…it may be a special personal item that someone gave to them, or a sofa they just can’t bear to part with, a colour in their favourite piece of artwork, the love of wood, the feeling of space or a collection of unicorns 🦄

Whatever it is, these things make you happy and you shouldn’t change that.  I help clients incorporate the things they love into the schemes I design.

The most important thing when you walk into a room is that it makes you smile and feel happy 😃

We extended our kitchen/dining space out into the garden in 2018 and Mr.C will often sit in that room now and say “ this is my favourite room and I love being in here”  That’s because the design and scheme is made of all the things we love and it’s just how we wanted it to look. Now I appreciate some people don’t have that vision but there were certain elements Mr.C wanted and those things are what makes him happy today.

Now is a great time of the year to start planning your decorating and be inspired by the things you love. For example, if you love the outdoors, how can you bring the outdoors in. You love the colour yellow so what looks great with yellow.

Here are some great ways to re-fresh your homes this spring/summer…

Wishing you all a wonderful summer,

Colour Pops – using your favourite colour either through paint, accessories making your palette pop. Bright colours bring a happy feeling to your home.
Monochrome Palette – Create Uncomplicated and restful space and use different textures to really bring the scheme togther, plants, fabrics, lighting, artwork.
Brighter Colours in the kitchen – Go for it, there’s so much choice now and if you don’t feel brave enough just add as a highlight colour or on your kitchen island. I’ve got some great colour swatches, so if your stuck and are thinking of a kitchen re-design, give me a shout.
House Plants – Totally up to you, either use faux or real plants to inject a new lease of life into your home. I’m not really sure why we all went away from having plants in our homes as they really do make a difference to how the room looks and makes you feel.
Freestanding baths – Again another way to add a pop of colour and really change to look and feel of your bathroom.
