Not so long ago, pink sat firmly in the category of “accent”, a fleeting trend, a colour used sparingly. Today it has quietly stepped into a far more enduring role – the modern neutral.
For all my regular followers you will know this is music to my ears. I have long been in love with pink. My kitchen is pink, my hallway is pink and even my front door makes no apologies for it. So I could not be happier that the rest of the design world is finally catching up.

This shift began with the soft blush tones of the mid 2010s, but what we are seeing now is a more grounded grown up evolution. Think dusty rose, clay and muted terracotta pinks shades with depth warmth and an almost earthy quality. These are colours that do not shout for attention but instead settle gently into a scheme much like a well loved linen or soft aged wood.
What makes pink so effective as a neutral is its ability to warm a space without overwhelming it. Where grey can feel cool, beige sometimes flat, pink introduces a subtle glow. It works effortlessly with natural materials – timber, stone, rattan and pairs beautifully with olive greens, deep charcoals and warm whites.
There is also something inherently flattering about pink. It softens light, enhances skin tones and creates an atmosphere that feels both calm and quietly luxurious. Used across walls, cabinetry or upholstery, it brings a cocooning quality that feels particularly relevant now.

Pink it seems, is no longer a trend – it is a foundation and one I have been more than happy to build my own home around. If you are thinking about introducing pink into your own home I would love to help so do get in touch to start the conversation.
